Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime and upcoming Redmi 3 are both budget priced android smartphone manufactured by Xiaomi and both operates on MIUI ROM. Though Xiaomi Redmi 3 is a successor of Redmi 2 both devices are comparable on the basis of their features.

Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime sports a 4.7 inched High Definition display Dragon Trail glass protection. Redmi 3 sports a 5 inches HD display with IPS panel. Both smartphone have HD 720p x 1280p display but Redmi 3 this time is bigger and better.

Both device comes with 16GB internal memory and 2 gigs of RAM but instead of 32GB expandable, Redmi 3 storage memory can be expanded to 128GB using a memory card.

Redmi 2 prime has a quad core Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 chipset and Cortex A53 quad core processor clocked at 1.2GHz processor over it. The phone use Adreno 306 GPU for graphic processing.
The upcoming android phone Redmi 3 comes with mid range Qualcomm MSM8939v2 Snapdragon 616 with Quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 & quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A53 processor with Adreno 405 GPU above it.

Other points to be noted
- The camera and flash in Redmi 3 is aligned toward the right corner where in Redmi 2 Prime it is on middle.
- The speaker grill is now on rear bottom side which is used to be on left side of the camera.
- Redmi 2 Prime and Redmi 3 both support 4G but Redmi 3 comes with a dual - SIM hybrid tray, you can either use 2 SIM at a time or a SIM with memory card.
